The Haigh and Haigh development

Chandos Timber Engineering has craned the last roofing frames into place as it finishes off the north-west’s first six-storey timber apartment block

Manchester-based Haigh and Haigh are building the development but Chandos has delivered £600,000-worth of timber frame to form the backbone of the building.

“We have now craned the final frames of into place to create the striking slanted roof at the top,” said Chandos director John Sutton.

“But Chandos’ team are still on site as part of our quality control commitment.”

The 52-apartment development in Altrincham Road, Manchester features “stay-dry” timber, which Chandos claims minimises shrinkage and movement and allows for more precise construction.
